Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Or, a fort with five towers each topped with a spire with banner (From the arms of Chateau Thierry) Sable; on a canton Azure, three bendlets sinister Argent.  Above the shield, on a wreath of the colors Or and Sable, with a cornucopia Gules debruised by a wheel Or.  Attached below the shield is a Red scroll inscribed "ROULONS ET PASSONS" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
On a gold or yellow shield is the five spired fort in black indicative of Chateau Thierry just east of which and south of the Marne occurred the first important service of the predecessor organization.  On a square in the corner of the shield is the shoulder mark of the 3d Division.  This tells the story of the Train's first major service and of the Division of which it was a part.  The motto may be translated "Let us roll (forward) and cross (the bridge at Chateau Thierry)."

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 3d Division Train, Quartermaster Corps on 26 April 1926.  It was redesignated for the 3d Quartermaster Regiment effective 1 April 1936.  It was redesignated for the 3d Quartermaster Battalion on 1 May 1940.  The insignia was redesignated for the 3d Quartermaster Company on 19 December 1952.  It was redesignated for the 3d Supply and Transport Battalion on 24 July 1964.  It was redesignated with the description and symbolism amended for the 3d Support Battalion on 14 September 1987.

Background
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 3d Division Train on 3 October 1921.  It was amended to correct the blazon of the shield on 12 August 1925.  It was redesignated for the 3d Quartermaster Regiment on 1 September 1936.  The insignia was redesignated for the 3d Quartermaster Battalion on 1 May 1940.  It was suspended/cancelled on 19 December 1952.  It was reinstated and redesignated for the 3d Supply and Transport Battalion on 24 July 1964.  It was redesignated with the symbolism amended for the 3d Support Battalion on 14 September 1987.
